A Greater Manchester firm has won a contract to supply a car tracking system it developed in house to a local accident management company. Phantom, based in Stockport, specialises in vehicle security technology, including tracking systems that can be used to locate and return stolen cars and monitor a vehicles usage. It has recently provided its detachable On Board Diagnostics (OBD) system to Auto Claims Assist. The Eccles-based company provides accident management services for clients involved in road traffic incidents where a replacement car is required whilst their own vehicle is repaired. The OBD will be used on all its 35 fleet. The state-of-the art tracking system supplied by Phantom took a year to develop. It offers users a web based portal on a PC or phone on which businesses can locate where a vehicle is in the UK or Europe. It will allow Auto Claims Assist the ability to review their fleet 24/7 or in the event of an incident. Phantom sales manager Dave McIntyre said: We replaced Auto Claims Assists previous tracking system with one which is easier to use and offered them new applications, helping to enhance their business and saving them hundreds of pounds per month in revenue. The OBD has been developed in-house by our technical director Adam Langley. It is currently being used by two national car hire firms and is growing in popularity for companies that have a number of cars which they need to monitor. Auto director Chris Brennan added: After installing the phantom trackers we found it helped streamline our operating systems and saved us a considerable amount of money, allowing us to put it back directly into the business to expand.
