Need for Increased Vigilance Against Motorcycle Theft in the Summer Season
With the motorcycle season upon us, tracking specialist AMI Group is warning bikers to remain vigilant against the threat of motorcycle theft.
The Summer months can see a peak in the theft of motorcycles – from scooters to high-powered superbikes – and in recent years London has experienced the biggest problem with motorcycle theft in the UK.
The theft of motorcycles has proved to be a major concern with some bikes subsequently being used to facilitate violent crime and street robberies. This has led to the Metropolitan Police employing new tactics to tackle the problem such as forensic tagging and mobile remote-controlled stingers. There has also been a campaign to get motorcycle and scooter owners to use better and more adequate security when parking their machines in the capital.
Peter Stockton, Operations Director of AMI Group said: “There are a number of different security options on the market for motorcycle owners and tracking devices can make it very difficult for thieves to successfully steal motorcycles. Tracking units vastly increase the chances of the police finding and returning a stolen motorcycle to its rightful owner. Otherwise, stolen bikes are often broken down for parts never to be seen again.”
AMI Group provides anti-theft tracking solutions for vehicle and machinery owners across the UK. Utilising advanced GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (Global System for Mobile Frequency) and RF (Radio Frequency) technology, the company’s real-time web-based platform allows owners complete control and visibility of their vehicles and equipment.
AMI Group was recently crowned ‘Best Asset Tracking and Fleet Management Solutions Provider – UK’ at the Technology Innovator Awards held in conjunction with CV magazine.
