Enhanced Web-Based Software Portal Empowers Customers
Following months of development work and consultation with customers, equipment tracking specialist AMI Group has launched a vastly enhanced version of the company’s AMI Nexis web-based software portal which is used in conjunction with the company’s tracking devices. The updated portal empowers AMI customers with more information than ever before to help locate and manage plant equipment and vehicle fleets more efficiently and safely.
The AMI Nexis web-based portal has a fresh, new dashboard layout and a comprehensive catalogue of asset icon types has been introduced so that customers with large fleets can quickly locate and distinguish between different types of assets, such as excavators, rollers, service vans and cars.
A series of new high tech features have also been added to give organisations full control and visibility of their plant or vehicle fleets. For example, a new timeline feature has been introduced to allow users to see a quick snapshot of each asset’s activity over the last 24 hours, allowing rapid identification of any assets being used outside working hours or over the weekend. New features such as a new hours usage widget have also been added to enable users to identify the utilisation of plant equipment or other assets. This enables customers to identify under-use or over-use of plant and help ensure accurate charging for plant use.
The web portal can also be used to ensure legal compliance or to assist with Environmental, Health or Safety requirements. For example, speed reports highlight any violations and the severity of the violation and service reminders highlight any pieces of plant or vehicles that are due for a service, MOT or insurance renewal.
Peter Stockton, Operations Director at AMI Group said: “We’ve consulted with our customers extensively and we’ve introduced a series of new features to the AMI Nexis web portal which they told us would make a real difference to their business. Many of our customers have large national fleets of plant equipment, so the introduction of asset icon types makes it easier for customers to quickly identify particular assets. The new features also highlight vehicles or plant approaching servicing time to avoid deploying them to jobs that would take them over their service scheduling.”
AMI Group’s state-of-the-art tracking devices are covertly installed on plant machinery such as excavators, generators and compressors to provide the ultimate in anti-theft protection. Developed using advanced GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), RF (Radio Frequency) and battery powered technology, customers can logon to the AMI Nexis web-based portal to establish the destination of plant equipment in the event of it being stolen. Customers can also use the system as a total fleet management solution to help reduce their fuel costs, reduce their carbon footprint or enhance productivity – and they can even remotely immobilise equipment from their mobile phone.
The company’s tracking devices utilise a private APN system which detects the strongest network signal available and sends its data using the best available network. This ensures optimal coverage and helps to eliminate black spots and loss of coverage. In situations where GPS is unavailable, the device relays GSM cell site positions and the internal RF beacon can be activated to assist in locating stolen assets.
