Dangers Posed by Roads in Summer

Summer is a wonderful time of year for most of us. Unfortunately, if you're planning to hit the road this sunny season, there are a fair few dangers you need to be aware of, three of which Phantom have been listed below.
Holiday Drivers
Impatient drivers and road rage are both possibilities, especially in the holiday traffic. Sadly, not everyone will keep their cool, so you need to be prepared to deal with these kinds of situations. Remember to keep a level head and, if someone does lose their temper, don't act as a catalyst. Instead, acknowledge their frustration and, if you're in the wrong, remember your manners. In addition to road rage though, it is likely you will be faced with a surge of holiday traffic, which, although it can be a pain, calls for safety first - as always. What makes it worse is if the traffic is accompanied by one or both of the below, so don't forget to plan your journey in advance and be patient.
Overheating
Sun, sand and sandals are all great parts of summer. However, the former can be extremely dangerous, especially when it comes to heat. When on the road, keep a bottle of water with you at all times to ensure you stay hydrated and don't start to overheat. Don't forget to make use of the air conditioning too, as the summer heat can often make us feel drowsy. Of course, as well as the risk of you overheating, you also have the chance of your engine overheating as well. If you suspect it may be starting to overheat, pull over safely and allow it to cool in time.
Cyclists
With the hot weather comes another likely risk on the road; cyclists. Though many do and will stick to dedicated cycle paths, it is important to remain vigilant at all times, and remember to overtake only when it's safe. Yes, it might be a pain to sit behind them for a while, but your safety, and the safety of other road users always has to come first. Now, these summer road guidelines apply to both cars and lorries, to ensure optimal safety for both types of motorists. For lorries, in particular, though,  fleet tracking can help to keep you and your vehicle secure, as well as enable managers to oversee your journey. This can help with retention, especially if you find yourself caught in congestion. So, get in touch today to enquire about fleet tracking, and remember to stay safe this summer!
