Moving Intelligence: Securing vehicles and assets across Europe

If you’ve worked with us over the years, you may have known us as AMI or Phantom. Since those early days, we've merged, grown and spread out across Europe.

Where it started...

Plant theft was (and still is) a huge issue today due to the rise in material costs and the sophistication of organised crime. This made it clear there was a gap in the plant asset security market for a reliable anti-theft device. That’s when AMI was born. It was established in 2012 as a family-run business and specialised in construction equipment tracking.

AMI then joined forces with Phantom, an established leader in the vehicle security industry. At first, Phantom’s focus was to protect and track motorcycles, but they soon ventured into the leisure market. They worked closely with well-known insurers like Caravan Guard, who offered their customers discounted premiums if they had a Phantom tracker fitted. Phantom then partnered with leisure dealerships to provide pre-fitted trackers in their campervans, caravans and motorhomes.

AMI and Phantom built their reputations on providing stolen vehicle recovery solutions. Over time, they became trusted providers of Thatcham S5 and S7 tracking systems, high-value car tracking equipment, motorhome trackers and security systems. Their installations protected cars, commercial fleets, construction machinery and specialist vehicles used for leisure. Real-world recovery operations demonstrated the effectiveness of these solutions and cemented long-standing insurer relationships.

The fast growth of both companies caught our attention, so we decided to welcome them into the Moving Intelligence Group in 2021.

We worked together to design, produce and install insurance-approved hardware technology across the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. But as we grew and vehicle security technology rapidly advanced, it was time to explore OEM vehicle data technology and integration. So, we were introduced to ECHOES.

The Echoes merger: Combining intelligence and security

In 2024, Moving Intelligence merged with Echoes, a technology leader in connected vehicle intelligence and monitoring platforms. The merger brought together two complementary strengths: our accredited tracking hardware and stolen-vehicle recovery experience, and Echoes’ cutting-edge monitoring technology and connected data capability.

By integrating Echoes into the Group, we expanded our ability to analyse real-time vehicle data and evolve beyond traditional insurance-approved tracker systems into fully connected vehicle ecosystems. Together, we deliver security and intelligence that anticipates threats rather than merely reacting to them.

Built on security, expanded by intelligence

Despite our growth, security remains at the core of Moving Intelligence. What has changed is how we apply it:

  • Modern vehicles continuously generate data directly from the manufacturer, enabling much deeper insights than location alone.

  • Fleet operators now depend on fleet telematics and fleet management software, including driver behaviour monitoring and fleet compliance software.

  • Construction businesses increasingly expect plant utilisation data as well as theft protection.

  • Insurance requirements continue to evolve around S5 trackers and keyless theft protection, making connected intelligence indispensable.

Sector-specific impact

Although Moving Intelligence now operates as a unified brand, the impact of our solutions varies by industry. Owners of prestige and performance vehicles continue to receive robust insurance-approved tracker systems backed by enhanced monitoring intelligence. High-value car tracker installations, performance car tracking and motorhome security systems now benefit from connected data integration and ongoing system development.

As the number of keyless theft attempts rises across the UK, we use an integrated approach to protect high-value vehicles against evolving threats while maintaining compliance with insurer requirements.

Today, Moving Intelligence goes beyond reactive stolen plant recovery. We deliver comprehensive construction equipment tracking, heavy equipment security and construction telematics that deliver asset visibility, utilisation data and actionable insights. Rather than simply recovering stolen machinery, customers can now prevent theft and improve operational efficiency across busy sites.

Fleet operators also work in increasingly data-driven environments, and with Echoes OEM vehicle data integration systems, they can monitor driver behaviour, fuel efficiency and fleet telematics. Then, with the support of Moving Intelligence’s security expertise, fleet operators can delve deeper into their vehicles’ protection.

What this means for you

Moving Intelligence was founded on principles laid down by AMI and Phantom: security-first thinking, accredited systems, real-world performance and trusted relationships. Today, Echoes enables us to build on that foundation with connected vehicle intelligence, advanced analytics and predictive capability. Whether you rely on us for a Thatcham S5 tracker, fleet telematics software, plant tracking system, motorhome security system or OEM vehicle data integration, you’re supported by the same core commitment - security backed by intelligence.

Our name has changed, our technology has advanced, and our capability has expanded. But our dedication to protecting your vehicles, assets and data remains as strong as ever. With over 750,000 connected devices across Europe, we continue to be the perfect partner for smart mobility and asset management.
