2G to 4G Upgrade
The UK government has confirmed plans to phase out 2G and 3G mobile networks by 2033, as part of the transition to faster, more reliable 4G and 5G technologies.
Several countries, including Switzerland, have already completely decommissioned 2G services and all 3G networks have been shut off in the USA, while Luxembourg and Lithuania have heavily restricted their use.
While this change supports better nationwide connectivity, it will also impact older tracking devices that rely on 2G networks — meaning they will eventually stop communicating with our systems.
