Trailer Stolen and Recovered by Customer Thanks to AMI
A CT177 Trailer has been recovered and returned to our customer after being stolen from a service station in Oxford. The customer realised the trailer had been stolen in the morning when leaving the services, after contacting AMI Group to report the theft the AT5 unit was placed into finder mode. Utilising the AMI App, a positive GPS position was obtained and the customer located recovered the trailer.
In recent months an increase in theft has been reported in connection to trailers, with criminals spinning a lucrative trade in stealing, stripping plates, and selling high-end trailers.
Trailer theft is notoriously hard to trace, when not protected with a tracker, with criminals targeting rural farms and driving trailers across the border into a different jurisdiction or going to ground and resurfacing a year later, after switching trailer plates.
The trailer was protected with the AMI AT5, the industry-leading battery-powered asset tracking and after theft recovery device, with a huge battery life of 6,000 GPS pings, cell site GSM triangulation and a powerful RF beacon.
AMI Group was established in 2004, offering state-of-the-art telemetry and tracking systems and technology to a wide range of markets including construction and plant hire. To date, more than £353 million worth of customer assets have been protected with AMI tracking devices, and AMI systems are utilised by many of the UK’s leading plant hire organisations, commercial fleet operators, and small – medium sized businesses nationwide.
