PlantworX Round-up
Now that the dust has settled after Plantworx, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all those who visited the AMI Group stand in Pavilion A. It was great to meet up with both our existing customers and potential new customers and we anticipate that we will have a number of new customers and resellers on board from contacts who we met at the show.
One of the most rewarding experiences during Plantworx was the opportunity to become involved in the Primary Engineer event on the last day of the show. We were proud to be a sponsor of the event, with the opportunity to judge carefully constructed vehicles produced by pupils from Leicestershire Primary Schools who took part in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) challenge. The initiative forms part of the CEA (Construction Equipment Association) Skills Council programme – all part of the drive to engage young people in STEM projects as a means of inspiring careers in the sector.
We were extremely impressed with the models produced by children as young as five years old and it was an honour being a judge alongside representatives from companies including JCB, Caterpillar, Perkins, Bomag, Datatag and Marubeni Komatsu. There are definitely some future engineers amongst the children who participated in the challenge!
Later this year AMI Group will be the headline sponsor of the Construction Plant-hire Association’s (CPA) Annual Construction Plant Conference 2017 which is taking place on 31st October. The one-day event, which is being hosted at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre near Coventry, brings together experts from the industry, including plant manufacturers, plant hirers, construction companies and service suppliers. The CPA is the leading trade association for the industry and has over 1,600 members who supply some 85% of equipment used in construction. The sector generates over £4bn a year and invests £1.3bn in new equipment annually.
