AMI Group in the Running for Best Use of Technology Award

Construction plant tracking specialist AMI Group has been applauded for its technological innovation by being shortlisted for the ‘Best Use of Technology’ award at the Nectar Small Business Awards 2016.

AMI Group, which offers a range of tracking devices to help prevent plant machinery from being stolen, is one of four shortlisted companies nominated for the ‘Best Use of Technology’ accolade, a new category in the Nectar Small Business Awards this year. The winner will be announced at an exclusive round table event and awards ceremony in London on 22nd November. AMI Group will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with Sarah Willingham, one of the UK’s leading businesswomen and star of the BBC 2 TV show Dragon’s Den, at the round table event.

Gary Stockton, Group Managing Director of AMI Group said: “We feel very proud to have been shortlisted for this award and it is excellent recognition for our staff and the hard work they put in week in, week out in terms of working closely with our customers and helping them recover stolen construction equipment. It also means a great deal to me personally as it enhances the profile of AMI Group even further and confirms our 100% commitment to innovation and providing an exceptional level of customer service.”

AMI Group offers a range of tracking devices which utilise advanced GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (Global System for Mobile Frequency), RF (Radio Frequency) and battery operated technology and the company’s Nexis real-time web-based platform allows customers complete control and visibility of their construction plant fleets.

One key innovation in 2016 is the introduction of the industry-changing AT5. The AT5 is a self-contained, battery operated tracking device which can be covertly installed on plant machinery. Just 21 x 55 x 52mm in size, the AT5 is so small that it can be effectively concealed on assets without being detected. In fact, there has not been one instance of a covertly installed AT5 device being successfully removed from a stolen item of plant to avoid detection. The AT5 has a battery life of up to 20 years (30% better than competitive products) and it utilises highly sensitive assisted GPS positioning accurate to within 1 metre.

Tracking devices such as the AT5 are allowing construction companies UK-wide to protect their plant fleets against theft and saving them tens of thousands of pounds. Industry-wide, just 10% of stolen plant is successfully recovered, but a remarkable 100% of stolen equipment protected with a covertly installed AMI tracking device has been successfully recovered.
