AMI Group Extends Location-Based Solutions to Consumer Vehicle Market
One of the country’s leading developers and suppliers of technologically advanced and innovative location-based solutions is expanding into the consumer vehicle market. The renowned AMI Group, known for its revolutionary asset tracking solutions for businesses, has announced the launch of a new GPS device that can quickly and easily be fitted to any automobile with a battery. This includes cars, motorbikes and motorhomes.
The new tracking device uses powerful GPS positioning to accurately track vehicles and report the location to the user. The device is designed to sync with existing AMI Group technology, allowing device users to access real time location data and live track their vehicle using the included mobile app which can be downloaded and used on a number of mobile devices.
The introduction of the new device marks one of the earliest low cost solutions designed to address what is perhaps the most significant issue impacting the consumer vehicle market today. With car manufacturers such as BMW, Ford, Audi, Land Rover, Volkswagen, and Mercedes introducing keyless vehicles, car theft has been rising at a rapid rate, with reports suggesting that almost 90,000 vehicles were stolen in England and Wales alone within the last year.
“Although we have largely been focused on fleet and asset management for businesses, the recent rise in vehicle theft, especially in the keyless car market, has generated an urgent need for innovative safety solutions for consumers,” says AMI Group Operations Director Peter Stockton. “Having researched the consumer sector, we discovered that small, simple options that can easily be hidden in standard cars and bikes were lacking, which really motivated us to design and develop our new device that’s small enough for the everyday.
“Our technology can help people recover stolen cars taken by relay theft, and that’s what we strive for.”
As one of the AMI Group’s smallest devices, the new GPS tracker is designed to be hidden in multiple locations within the vehicle, making it difficult to identify and locate. Use of the device, however, is simple, with the AMI Group working to ensure that the tracker could easily be installed for car owners without the need for professional assistance. Tracking data can be viewed using an app.
This is just the latest in a long line of location-based solutions from the firm. Its wealth of advanced GPS, GSM, RF and battery-operated technology helps businesses track, locate and manage their assets.
The new tracker can be used worldwide.
