AMI Group All Set to Be Headline Exhibitor at the CPA Plant Conference 2017
Plant tracking specialist AMI Group is all set to be the headline sponsor and exhibitor at the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) Plant Conference 2017 taking place on 31st October at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre between Birmingham and Coventry.
The CPA Plant Conference is an annual one-day event organised by the CPA, the leading trade association for the plant hire sector in the UK. The CPA has over 1,600 members who supply 85% of plant used in the construction industry. The underpinning theme of the Conference is ‘Understanding and Influencing the Future of Construction Plant Hire’ and the event is a unique opportunity to discuss the latest issues affecting construction plant in the UK.
AMI Group exhibited at the event for the first time last year and has become the premium diamond sponsor for this year’s event. The conference will address important and business-critical developments in construction plant hire. Speakers and subjects give a cross section of topics, including major projects, client requirements, how the industry can tackle its future skills needs, the latest progress in health and safety, securing your assets and embracing new technology. Previous speakers have included representatives from the likes of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), CITB, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, HS2, Tideway, Highways England, Skanska and Metropolitan Police.
Peter Stockton, Operations Director at AMI Group said: “The CPA Plant Conference attracts senior figures from across the construction plant sector, so it gives us an opportunity to interact with both existing customers and new contacts and show them our range of plant tracking devices. Over the last 12 months, we’ve introduced new technology such as the introduction of drones to help aid plant recovery efforts and events such as this give us the opportunity to showcase new developments. Plant theft is still a major problem across the construction industry, and this is another means in our armoury to combat against the theft of plant machinery and beat the thieves.”
AMI Group’s state-of-the-art tracking devices are covertly installed on plant machinery such as excavators, generators and compressors to provide the ultimate in anti-theft protection. Developed using advanced GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), RF (Radio Frequency) and battery powered technology, customers can logon to the AMI Nexis web-based portal to establish the destination of plant equipment in the event of it being stolen. Customers can also use the system as a total fleet management solution to help reduce their fuel costs, reduce their carbon footprint or enhance productivity – and they can even remotely immobilise equipment from their mobile phone.
The company’s tracking devices utilise a private APN system which detects the strongest network signal available and sends its data using the best available network. This ensures optimal coverage and helps to eliminate black spots and loss of coverage. In situations where GPS is unavailable, the device relays GSM cell site positions and the internal RF beacon can be activated to assist in locating stolen assets. AMI Group has recently been named ‘Best Asset Tracking and Fleet Management Solutions Provider – UK’ at the Technology Innovator Awards 2017.
